
Recent Successes

Jenny Hulkes who is now 68, told us.....
"I have been coming to the Gym for 18 months. Prior to that, I had been in pretty poor shape with arthritis and severe hypertension requiring quite a lot of medication and 2 or 3 weekly visits to the surgery for blood pressure checks. I found this situation depressing and debilitating. When my Doctor suggested I came to the Gym on a program of exercise, I laughed, thinking I was past it; but 'nothing ventured, nothing gained', so I gave it a try.
I was a bit apprehensive but I needn't have been, the staff here were brilliant they encouraged me, bullied me gently and laughed with me.
My life improved more than I can say; I have more energy, my mobility has improved so much I haven't used my chair lift for over a year, my mental attitude is very positive, and I enjoy the interaction with others. My doctor was so pleased with my progress that I didn't have to see him for a year.
Now I am still working out. Coming to the Gym has made such a difference to my life, I still can't quite believe it. I didn't expect such good results.
Thanks to Valhalla staff and their professional guidance and encouragement, plus the friendly environment; it really worked for me. My blood pressure is now within normal limits, my artritis rarely bothers me and I have to use my stairlift only rarely.
I feel better now than I did ten years ago both physically and mentally. I will be 68 years old in a few months, but have no intention of growing old too gracefully".

In July 2000 a Bikini Workout Competion was organised for members.
Over sixteen lady members took part over a six week period.
All those who took part lost weight and improved toning of the muscles.
